Welcome to our Eco Council page
The Eco Council at Lockwood aims to improve the school environment and champion wider environmental issues from around the world. The Eco Council consists of two pupils from each class who have been elected by their classmates. The Eco Council meet to discuss, plan and action work around school.
So far, the Eco Council has:
- planted trees;
- planted flowers;
- made a bug hotel;
- made a micro pond;
- put up bird houses;
- taken part in walk to school and bike weeks as well as Beat the Street;
- created bird feeders and taken part in the Big Schools Birdwatch;
- litter picked in the school grounds and at the local park;
- taken part in Earth Day activities thinking about how we can make small changes which can help make a big difference to the world.
The Green Flag Award
We hold the Eco Schools Green Flag award, with Merit, from 2022 which enables children to tackle environmental issues within school, local area and beyond.Â
RSPB School Wild Challenge Awards
We currently have the Bronze and Silver Awards and are working towards the Gold Award this year!
This year we aim to:
- encourage more recycling in school;
- create compost heaps;
- reduce wasted energy in school
